Here is a recipe for a simple mutton fry which my sister had made when we went over to her place for dinner. It was really tasty and I was surprised at how simple a recipe it is.
Mutton - 250 gms
shallots - 3 - 5
Ginger- garlic paste - 3/4 teaspoon
Garam Masala powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt and Red chilli powder - As per your taste
Curry leaves - 5 Sprigs or more
Grind the shallots and ginger garlic to a fine paste. Add to the mutton along with the spices.
Pressure cook mutton for 4 whistles or until cooked.
Open the pressure cooker and continue cooking till the water has dried up.
Heat Oil in a frying pan and fry the mutton with the curry leaves.

Haleem Lite
I call it haleem lite as we don't use the amount of curd or fat that is normally used in haleem. This is how we make it:
250 gm mutton, cut into small pieces
2 cardamoms
2 cloves
1/4 tsp black cumin seeds ( I used shah jeera the last time I made it since I was out of black cumin seeds)
1/2 cup moong dal ( the small yellow ones)
1 TBSP. Chana Dal
1/2 to 3/4 cup Broken Wheat
1 Onion, fried and crushed
1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
1 bunch coriander leaves chopped
1 TBSP. curd
Salt to taste
Oil
Soak the wheat seperately and the dals together for 6 hours.
Pressure cook seperately with enough water for 4 whistles each.
Heat oil, pop the black cumin seeds, cardamoms and cloves
Add the crushed onions and ginger- garlic paste and fry.
Add the mutton, turmeric and red chilli powder, salt and coriander leaves and cook for 4 whistles or until tender.
Add the curd and mix well.
Add the cooked dals and wheat to the mutton.
Mix well and serve hot with lemon and ghee if desired!
