I call it haleem lite as we don't use the amount of curd or fat that is normally used in haleem.This is how we make it:
250 gm mutton, cut into small pieces
2 cardamoms
2 cloves
1/4 tsp black cumin seeds ( I used shah jeera the last time I made it since I was out of black cumin seeds)
1/2 cup moong dal ( the small yellow ones)
1 TBSP. Chana Dal
1/2 to 3/4 cup Broken Wheat
1 Onion, fried and crushed
1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
1 bunch coriander leaves chopped
1 TBSP. curd
Salt to taste
Oil
Soak the wheat seperately and the dals together for 6 hours.
Pressure cook seperately with enough water for 4 whistles each.
Heat oil, pop the black cumin seeds, cardamoms and cloves
Add the crushed onions and ginger- garlic paste and fry.
Add the mutton, turmeric and red chilli powder, salt and coriander leaves and cook for 4 whistles or until tender.
Add the curd and mix well.
Add the cooked dals and wheat to the mutton.
Mix well and serve hot with lemon and ghee if desired!

This dish looks to be similar to wheat dishes from the Gulf area, im not sure...It seems to be very tasty mashallah...I would love to try this one day for fatoor inshallah :) thanks for sharing!

Harees: meat and wheat dish
saudi mufallaq: tomato paste,meat,wheat dish
madrooba: fish and vegatable and wheat dish
this is only a few mashallah...
